Joseph Bauer will work with area landowners and farmers to implement wildlife habitat conservation measures aimed at increasing lesser prairie chicken, pheasant, quail and other wildlife populations.
This biologist was hired as a result of a partnership between Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever, the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Playa Lakes Joint Venture and other conservation organizations, with the intention of increasing wildlife and conservation awareness in the Texas Panhandle.
The partnership was built on the Lesser Prairie Chicken Initiative (LPCI), which is a key component of the NRCS Strategic Watershed Action Teams' (SWAT) effort. In Texas, the Lesser Prairie Chicken Initiative and the Strategic Watershed Action Teams will help individual agricultural producers plan and implement conservation practices needed to address natural resource concerns.
